If the whole movie was like this number, it would be amazing. Unfortunately, it is not. This is the highlight of the movie and the rest is awful.

Apparently Michael Stipe wrote it as an ironic criticism to Chinese propaganda and the Tiananmen Square incident. Turns out he doesn't like the song much.
